Eine „undeniable authority“ bescheinigt das US-Magazin „Fanfare“ Holger Speck, der als charismatischer Dirigent internationales Renommee genießt. Die Vermittlung emotionaler Gehalte gelingt ihm ebenso wie die lebendige, historisch informierte Realisation stilistischer Charakteristika. Mit seinem ausgeprägten Klangsinn und zwingenden, authentischen Interpretationen prägt er die von ihm gegründeten Klangkörper Vocalensemble Rastatt & Les Favorites, aber auch die Chöre und Orchester, mit denen er als Gastdirigent arbeitet – u.a. das Freiburger Barockorchester, die Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Chor und Orchester der Slowenischen Philharmonie Ljubljana, die Capella Istropolitana oder das NDR-Vokalensemble, das er in einer vielbeachteten arte-Produktion von Bachs Weihnachtsoratorium in der Hamburger Elbphilharmonie dirigierte.

Holger Speck ist auch leidenschaftlicher Pädagoge und lehrt an der Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe und als Gastdozent u.a. in Zagreb, Rio de Janeiro, Ljubljana und Vilnius.

Für John Neumeiers letzte große Kreation als Ballettintendant in Hamburg, Dona nobis pacem, stand Holger Speck („ein außergewöhnlicher Dirigent“, NDR) am Pult der dortigen Staatsoper und auch des Festspielhauses Baden-Baden. Der damalige Bundestagspräsident Wolfgang Schäuble verpflichtete ihn für ein Konzert zum G20-Gipfel. Speck etablierte Vocalensemble Rastatt & Les Favorites international durch dramaturgisch reizvolle Konzertprogramme und vielfach ausgezeichnete CD-Einspielungen: „Sein Klang ist wie reines Gold“ (American Record Guide), „kleines Wunder“ (MDR), „berückend, mitreißend“ (Rondo), „kristallklar, feinsinnig“ (SR), „perfekter Gesang“ (FonoForum). John Neumeier schrieb ihm einen „überirdischen Klang“ zu.

Bei Produktionen der DEUTSCHEN GRAMMOPHON zeichnete er für die Chorpartien der Mozart-Opern „Die Entführung aus dem Serail“, „Così fan tutte“, „Don Giovanni“ und „Le nozze di Figaro“ verantwortlich. Letztere Aufnahme wurde auch für den Grammy nominiert. Ebenso studierte er für Paavo Järvi und die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie die Chorpartie von Beethovens IX. Sinfonie ein.

The US magazine ‘Fanfare’ attests to the ‘undeniable authority’ of Holger Speck, who enjoys an international reputation as a charismatic conductor. He succeeds in conveying emotional content as well as the lively, historically informed realisation of stylistic characteristics. With his distinctive sense of sound and compelling, authentic interpretations, he shapes the ensembles he founded, Vocalensemble Rastatt & Les Favorites, as well as the choirs and orchestras he works with as a guest conductor - including the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, the Academy of Early Music Berlin, the choir and orchestra of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra Ljubljana, the Capella Istropolitana and the NDR Vocal Ensemble, which he conducted in a highly acclaimed arte production of Bach's Christmas Oratorio in Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie.

Holger Speck is also a passionate teacher and teaches at the University of Music in Karlsruhe and as a guest lecturer in Zagreb, Rio de Janeiro, Ljubljana and Vilnius, among other places.

For John Neumeier's last major creation as ballet director in Hamburg, Dona nobis pacem, Holger Speck (‘an exceptional conductor’, NDR) conducted the Hamburg State Opera and the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. The then President of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Schäuble, engaged him for a concert for the G20 summit. Speck established Vocalensemble Rastatt & Les Favorites internationally through dramaturgically appealing concert programmes and multiple award-winning CD recordings: ‘His sound is like pure gold’ (American Record Guide), ‘small miracle’ (MDR), ‘enchanting, captivating’ (Rondo), ‘crystal clear, subtle’ (SR), ‘perfect singing’ (FonoForum). John Neumeier described him as having a ‘supernatural sound’.

In DEUTSCHE GRAMMOPHON productions, he was responsible for the choral parts in the Mozart operas ‘Die Entführung aus dem Serail’, ‘Così fan tutte’, ‘Don Giovanni’ and ‘Le nozze di Figaro’. The latter recording was also nominated for a Grammy. He also rehearsed the choral part of Beethoven's Symphony No. IX for Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie.
